I was familiar with most of the plugins listed, but I learned about some new ones that caught my attention!

Headspace2: Headspace makes tagging and managing your meta data much more streamlined. Once activated, you can use Headspace to “suggest” tags for a particular post, which are generated from the content of that post or through Yahoo suggestions (you decide). You can also mass edit meta data, as well.

Robots META: Use Robots META to prevent the search engines from indexing extraneous or duplicate content areas like your search results, feeds, login and admin pages, privacy pages, archives and more. You can also use this plugin to easily validate your account with Google Webmaster Central and Yahoo Site Explorer.

This is definitely worth your review even if you feel familiar with Wordpress and its capabilities.

If you don’t update the sites regularly, they can become security nightmares as new hacks develope for old Wordpress sites.

That means YES, use Wordpress for static websites but PLEASE be sure to update to the new versions of Wordpress as they become stable.

Otherwise your website could be put out of commission… or into commission for someone else without your knowledge!

A plugin is a small software program that improves the functionality of Wordpress in any number of ways.

You can see an endless supply of these plugins here http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/

Even though you may list a plugin as “inactive”, Wordpress still “queries” the software every time a page loads.

If you are like me you may experiment with a variety of plugins and let the rest sit inactive.

If you have many such plugins, it’s best to delete them since the minute delay of querying one inactive plugin is multiplied during every page load.

It’s still free but the PROFESSIONAL version, which is still reasonably priced, is awesome now that the upgrades are coming out!

It was already so easy to use. But NOW you can capture additional data in up to 5 different fields.

There is now a built in “CAPTCHA” form verification option on sign ups.

There is also now much more flexibility in managing list details.

Update: Wow! This app inserted photos JUST FINE. I was afraid that it would insert a HUGE picture that I’d have to come back an scale down. Instead, when I checked the page on the Safari browser it looked great. And now that I can check it out at my home office, it’s the same of Firefox.
Amazing! This will be great for posts that will just have one image.

For posts needing multiple images, I prefer a wordpress plugin called “dm albums” … for “one shot” posts, this is awesome. Awesome!

(I had a typo though that made me come back to my PC to edit! Duh! So I added a link and a picture. Next test… uploading a photo!)

How can you do that? Well, here’s one excellent plugin that will help you with that project!

WP Greet Box is designed to greet your visitors in a unique manner in a way consistent with how they arrived. Readers from Google, Twitter, Facebook, Stumble Upon, etc. are greeted with a specialized “howdy” that includes the icon of the service that brought them to your site.

It then encourages them to take action.

Visitors from Twitter can be asked to “retweet” the post. I tend to edit mine so that all have the option to get email updates! It’s an excellent tool!

Also, it’s very easy to customize. The only change I wanted to make was to edit the html of the pop up boxes to add a link for EMAIL subscriptions. Put in a sign up box for Aweber.com or Feedburner.

You can make these adjustments through your settings and alter the settings for each and every specific type of pop up… one for people come via Twitter, one for people who visit as a result of a Google Search, etc. You can even determine how often they’ll see the pop up message. If they come to your site via Twitter or Facebook for example, it even prompts them to retweet the link or post it on Facebook for their network to see! Pretty cool!
