I hate nothing more than being away from my home office and finding I’ve left a critical spreadsheet or document half way around the country.

Sure, I can get it emailed but that just wastes time and if the file’s too big odds are it gets rejected.

I’ve been a ‘road warrior’ for 5 years now and though I’m not highly technical I’ve tried a number of remote access solutions to overcome ‘on the move file sharing’.  I’ve tested Google Docs, but this requires that Google hosts all your files, so it’s not really a great solution as most of my images and docs are stored locally.  Both GoToMeeting and Citrix work, but they’re pricey and cumbersome to use.

WebPoint VPN has an odd name but it’s hands down the easiest Remote Access app I’ve ever used.  I signed up for the free trial, installed the software on my home pc and within 20 minutes I was able to access my home network.

It works perfectly with Vista & Windows 7, which is very cool!  It’s also got a great feature that it enables you to access any other connected pc in your network.

You can run applications, like Citrix, but it’s faster and definitely easier to connect.

You can even remote connect via the web.  One caveat – it doesn’t play well with Mac.  Try it free before you buy.

Our other one died. We thought setting up the wireless aspect would be a nightmare, but it was really quite simple.

This is a copier, fax, printer, and scanner. Our other previous workhorse – a 1600 series – passed away after going with us on vacation. It just goes to show, never try to be nice to your printer!

As I said, though we expected a nightmare, it’s working seamlessly with our wireless network. What a relief!

What I’ve learned about my fitness quest is that if it involves a gadget, I might just use it! So I was amazed after browsing through things like their Video Game Buying Guide to find a hand held exercise device through Shopwiki that has been approved by the FDA to help alleviate High Blood Pressure called the Zona Plus! Now that’s the ultimate couch potatoe’s fitness tool! (It wasn’t a Wii video game but it was still cool!).

For the true video afficianadoes, Shopwiki has wikis serving as a Handheld Gaming Guide, for Video Game Controllers, and Video Game Consoles. But like I say – I’m no video game purist. I just want to find the perfect couch potato exercise device! At least I found some pretty cool options!

The cost of producing audiobooks and ebooks and delivering them is falling through the floor.  One major pubisher is using that fact to boost the sale of their paper and ink books. By using the falling price of technology in this way they can keep selling their bread and butter – traditional books which people still like at the right price!

How can work at home entrepreneurs adapt this?

1. Read the ebook you want to sell into an audio format!
2. Make a free “Jing” online video to support your ebook
3. Create a membership site or forum
4. Create a “One Time Offer” or other back end product to boost business

You’ll need to download a special voice and video browser plugin.

But, after that, it’s fairly routine.

Frankly though, none of my regular contacts are on the system to I can chat with them by video or voice. It seems I have more friend on Skype with those capabilities.

It’s free.

What remains to be seen is how the service compares with Skype’s services.

If it’s just as good, I’d most likley use Google’s because it allows me to interface with my friends on AIM too.

I always wondered… how well is it working?

One day I was reading Web Worker Daily.

So, on a lark, I downloaded Malwarebytes – the basic version is free. The paid version is only $25.

It doesn’t interfere with my present anti-virus program and though I’d been running software that supposedly “found” everything, this little tool sniffed out over a dozen questionable malware programs.
