I just left a home based business where I spent $663 dollars this morning.

The man started his business selling air and water purifiers and he has equipment all over town for that line. But the big seller these days is neither of these products.

His big business these days are infrared heaters that operate on the same power drain as a light bulb but can heat 1000 square feet. I had two of these repaired and bought a new one.

He’s also a regional warranty repair site for several heater companies.

He changed so he wouldn’t end up in the dustbin of history.

In possibly the most ballsy attempt to recoup money lost in an (alleged) Ponzi scheme, a group of Californians pretended to be FBI agents, held up a hedge fund, and demanded their money back.

All I can say is that if this ever catches on, watch out “Internet Marketing GURUs”! You dang well better live on some island somewhere! Some folks may be getting ideas!

Oh wait! It’s the guys posing as cops that are the only ones going to jail right now. Definitely a downer.

Maybe the internet scammers are safe for another day…

In the former Soviet Union, there was a market for burnt out lightbulbs:

For most of us, it is hard to fathom the rationale for a market in burnt-out light bulbs. But in the scarcity-driven Soviet economy, the market was entirely reasonable. Light bulbs were rarely available to individual consumers, but were obtainable for state-sponsored activities. Thus, it would be difficult to purchase a light bulb for a new lamp in one’s home, while burnt-out bulbs in state-run offices or factories were routinely replaced. So if someone purchased a new lamp and needed a bulb, he would buy a used light bulb for a small fee and replace a functioning bulb at work with the dud. He would then take the functioning bulb home for the new lamp, while the burnt-out bulb at the office/factory would be replaced with a new functioning bulb. Meanwhile, the maintenance person at the office/factory would take the used bulb and sell it on the used light bulb market.
