For that we were thinking about Tennessee vacation rentals, specifically Pigeon Forge TN vacation rentals. We normally stay in one of the myriad motels there, but my brother got a mountain cabin once and it was spectacular, except I felt like my car was parked at a 45 degree angle! The cabin looked something like the image I’ve uploaded below. It was part of a “cabin community” of sorts… very quiet and peaceful, no college students (sorry college students, but you know who you are!) getting drunk and shouting all night off the next balcony.  The pool and wifi likewise were great. Though the cabin my brother had was in what felt like a secluded area, it wasn’t really that far from all the attractions.

If only he hadn’t had to be on call for his employer! Maybe he could have had some fun too!

Until, I’d moved to the south, I’d never heard of “Frying” Turkey, but here, for Thanksgiving and Christmas, that’s a seasonal tradition. One of the locally owned BBQ outlets will fry a turkey for you, but that doesn’t stop many aspiring turkey fryers from trying it on their own down here! So about this time various furniture and hardware stores in compete to sell you the tools you need to fry your turkey! Most of the turkey frying done around here uses deep frying in oil to accomplish the task. Usually a rig like this “King Kooker” Outdoor Turkey Fryer is used (see the image).

As you may have imagined, all that nasty bubbling oil is frowned upon for health reasons.  I’m always a bit nervous around that much boiling oil myself as well. So that’s why the Oilless turkey fryer is becoming popular. People think it will be healthier! Will it taste the same? The “ads” say yes, but, my taste buds, for one have not been able to vote as yet! From what I can tell, the “oilless” Turkey Fryers are not so popular here yet because these Turkey Fryers – at least the ones using oil – are also likely to be used in the summer for frying catfish and hush puppies. As good as those oilless fryers may be for turkey, I really have my doubts about their ability to perform when it comes to the hush puppies and catfish!

Oilless or deep fried Turkey for me this year? Just figuring that out and getting a new fryer will be half the fun!

But there’s something I admire in my mom’s sport’s mania. She can at least get absorbed in something besides work! I have virtually no work life balance. I go from work to work and it’s starting to wear me down! Workaholism is an addiction too and I seem to have ti pretty bad! One of our partners here suggested some relief by checking these links for my workaholism (and yours): They suggested Toyota Center Tickets for the Houston Rockets. Oddly enough, my mom seems to know all about them. I only know they are from Houston. She and my friend also suggested some relief in obtaining New York Rangers Tickets but if I want to watch hockey, I’ll just drive to Nashville and see the Predators.

There was one suggestion that did sound good: Getting some Ohio State Buckeyes Football Tickets. I checked their schedule and they are slated to play Penn State. I don’t know much about football anymore, but Joe Paterno is someone whose team I’d love to see play.

Since Mom’s here screaming at the football teams and other sports teams, maybe I can take advantage of the decibel level and get some work life balance. Hopefully you can too!

Right about now I’m thinking baseball if I’m thinking any sport at all, but I suppose now is the time the college football preseason prognostication magazines are ranking the meat on the hoof around America’s universities. While my friends are enamored with the Southern football powerhouses, a friend invited me to look at a position near Cincinnati. They thought it might be some allure to me to hear about how great it was to watch Ohio State and suggested we get some Ohio State Buckeyes Football Tickets but that really holds no attraction for me. The last college football I attended was Marshall University’s Thundering Herd. Someone let us into a Sky Box. After that the days of sweating or freezing in the bleachers has sort of lost its appeal!

Evidently a customer needed some revenge!
