Now here’s an idea for a business – I saw the picture on Facebook.

Sounds like a great marketing approach for getting “daytime” business instead of just the normal crowd after hours… especially if you live somewhere with a fairly large retirement or family vacation population!

1. It let’s you show your appreciation to more than one person. Though you work with one person, there are likely support staff who can make your life miserable or make business impossible. If you send the gift basket to the “prime mover” “and the office” you can use one gift to thank a variety of people.

Christmas Gifts I Should Have Given

Look back at the past holiday giving season, if I’d thought about it, I’d have given the following gifts.

To my friend Bob who is an amateur hockey fan and who regularly takes up the stick to play goalie with his pals in Nashville (who knew amateurs played hockey in Nashville, TN?) I should have given New York Rangers Tickets so he could have seen some real men play hockey and be inspired to take to the ice.

For my niece who loves to read and who would be up for theater, I should have given her some Boston Opera House tickets. Not having the money to fly her there or pay for the ancillary costs, I hope she enjoys the books she got for Christmas!

For myself, I am thinking I should have left this cold weather behind and arranged some Toyota Center Tickets in Houston. I’m not a fan of any particular team, but getting to some warm weather would be nice right about now. Besides, I have friends who live there in the Houston area!

Santa’s Hotline Is Open For Business!

Here’s a neat example of a company using the Holiday to promote their core service by offering a freebie to the customer. Since the Post Office doesn’t seem to want to handle “letters to Santa” this company has set up a direct phone hotline for your tot to have a conference call with Santa!

Of course, we talked about how this company makes money, so while it may be “Free” to the kids, it may turn them a handy profit or at least pay for itself…

Once they are set up with this company, using their conference call service the next time will be easier.

So What Are My Favorite Vacation Rental Destinations?

I’ve been thinking about this a good deal since I just destroyed my last credit card after paying off the account. My first thought was… “will I ever go on vacation again?” And panic gripped me. Yes, I’ll be going on vacation again, just not paying it off over the next 20 years. So my wife and I began discussing vacation rentals. It just so happens that we wondered if we’d be able to sneak out of town for a day or two this coming Thanksgiving.

For that we were thinking about Tennessee vacation rentals, specifically Pigeon Forge TN vacation rentals. We normally stay in one of the myriad motels there, but my brother got a mountain cabin once and it was spectacular, except I felt like my car was parked at a 45 degree angle! The cabin looked something like the image I’ve uploaded below. It was part of a “cabin community” of sorts… very quiet and peaceful, no college students (sorry college students, but you know who you are!) getting drunk and shouting all night off the next balcony. The pool and wifi likewise were great. Though the cabin my brother had was in what felt like a secluded area, it wasn’t really that far from all the attractions.

If only he hadn’t had to be on call for his employer! Maybe he could have had some fun too!
