Here’s the assignment:

Choose a topic you have enthusiasm or expertise in – a person, a place, a technology, a trend or even a “how-to”. Then, project ahead to next year, and why that topic will be relevant. We are accepting text, video and audio entries.

All entries will be reviewed by our Content Managers and a panel of expert judges. Content must be submitted on June 3rd before midnight through our contest area.

The best piece of content will win $5,000. All other entries will earn Performance Payments.

Every day, Content Producers at Associated Content have the opportunity to go beyond their own choice of what to publish and pick up one of our many Calls for Content.

On Tuesday, June 3 — in conjunction with Internet Week New York — Associated Content will release its biggest call ever:

One call worth $5,000.

The call will be released at 9 a.m. ET on June 3. Then, registered Content Producers will have until midnight to submit their entry on that special topic. Content Producers are limited to one entry per person.

With a theme of “What’s Next?” appropriate to Internet Week, here is the assignment:

Pick any topic or subject you have enthusiasm or expertise in. Then, project ahead to next year, and explain — in a text article, video or audio clip — why that topic will be relevant to online consumers who search for content related to whatever their interests might be.

The topic can be a person, a destination, an event, a technology, a trend, even a “how-to” — any unique topic you think will break through with people in a new way in the next year. Text submissions are limited to 400-500 words. (Video and audio must not be longer than 2 minutes.)

Submissions will be judged on a combination of quality: originality, clarity, enterprise, usefulness, discoverability and overall readability (or, for video or audio, accessible presentation).

After being reviewed by our Content Managers and, ultimately, a panel of expert judges, one content submission will earn its Content Producer a $5,000 payment. All other entries will earn Performance Payments.

Pam Gaulin is AC’s 2007 Content Producer of the Year. She is a freelance writer with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in French from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Previously, she edited and managed a live K-12 educational database for school libraries. She was also the editor of the library reference book Web Site Source Book. Prior to that, Pam was a newsletter writer for a marketing company, arts and entertainment writer, TV columnist, layout designer and editor for a weekly arts newspaper.

Currently, Pam is a full-time work-at-home mom to a toddler, tween boy and teenage girl. She has a loving husband that she has known since junior high. Not only is Pam a prolific writer, she is also a painter, Internet dweller and yoga enthusiast.

The 100 Best Performing is based on revenue. The Top Tens Special Categories winners will be selected by StartupNation judges after a popular voting. Special Categories include: Greenest, Dorm-Based, Boomers back in Business, Yummiest, Wackiest, Grungiest, Worldliest, Most Slacker-Friendly.

The contest is open to all kid-preneurs (between ages 5 and 12) who must submit an application before September 3, 2007.
