The Color Career Test is Pretty Cool

I’ve got a ton of experience in the Career Development field. I’ve seen my share of “Career Assessments” and most of them leave me with a sense of dread if I’m asked to take one.

You know the questions… “Do you like having your teeth pulled without anaesthesia?” (Wait, that’s not an actual question, that’s just what people FEEL like when they’re done with most of those assessments!)

So when I heard about the “Color Career Test” I had that sense of “oh no!”

But it turns out I really liked this Career Path Career Test!

By clicking on the colors, this test tells you what you’d be best at in a career. The “Color Career Test” is short, quick, fun and – weirdly accurate.

I don’t know if I answered all the questions right – acutally clicked on the colors right (I was slightly distracted which is slightly normal for me).

But given the results of the “Color Career Test” I’d have to say that for a short assessment, it’s pretty accurate!

Now to get the full results, you have to pay some money. But some will find it excellent confirmation… and fun to do at parties!

What I found interesting was that after using the colors to do a guesstimate, they ask you to input your actual job title. The ones they offered were “right in the ball park”.

Here’s 10 High Paying Work From Home Jobs as seen on Careerbuilder.

My only disagreement might be “Financial Planner”… most of the ones I know meet people in an office that’s plush and “bank like” to make the customer feel like their money is being handled well even if that doesn’t happen at banks!

But they may mean a planner working at home part time and at another location some.

How Many “Dropout Factories” Does Your State Have?

This is from Associated Press. It’s a graphic that tells what percentage of high schools in a given state are “dropout factories”, schools were 60% of the freshman class don’t make it to their senior year.

The worst state is South Carolina with 96 out of 185 High Schools being a “drop out factory”.

Oregon is one of the best states with 1 high school out of 175 being a “dropout factory”.

I wonder what the connection between dropping out and low entrepreneurship is?

I wonder what factors are the same for causing drop outs across the various states?

I have been letting this lens sit around too long in an incomplete fashion. Given the junk you find on Squidoo, by comparison people (or their algorithm!) thought it was complete!

Oh well. At least now it’s in better shape.

You could apply it to working at home by tweaking the rss feeds you use, the principle remain the same though it’s admittedly for people just seeking a job.

It’s designed to help people use free internet tools to force them to take massive action in seeking work.

Too many people put in one application per month and think they’re “job hunting!”

This forces you to do something if only to consciously ignore the task. Even that’s better than unconsciously ignoring the task.

It’s called the Job Engines lens.
