Is Your Next Career A Non Profit Job or Contract?

The non profit job sector is larger than most college graduate job seekers may be aware. People think of “non profit” and automatically think “no money” or “volunteer work” which is true in many smaller non profits of those using lots of volunteer labor.

As a result, it’s easy to forget that many nonprofit careers pay a viable salary with benefits. Many physicians, nurses, and physician’s assistants work for “non profits” and have better pay and benefits than those working in private offices.  Freelancers with technical skills like IT Support, Web Design, copywriting, etc. usually find that large non profits expect to pay “standard” rates for the work they outsource. They usually don’t come “hat in hand” asking for a discount or for regular work to be “donated”.

When you consider salaries that “CEO’s” of “non profits” make… it can seem “obscene” at times.  It’s a sign however that jobs in the non profit sector can be as viable as those in any other sector of the economy for those with the right skills, degrees, or certifications.
