One Page, One Month, 1236 Visitors, 41 Comments $122! HubPage Followup

As regular readers know, I’ve been doing Hub Page Experiments. Here’s my profile page if you want to see my hubs in action. Some of them are just rants, some are selling content, etc. All are experiments.

Overall, I’m very happy with Hub Pages though they drive me nuts from time to time as well.

Here’s what I told one person on the Hub Pages forums.

They were raving about a recent blog post at Hubpages where someone told folks NOT to write pages on “short term topics”. Here’s why following that advice would have lost me 1236 Vistiors (to date in less than a month) and over $100:

I understand what they were saying about short lived topics. But I have one hub that is a review of a product being “pushed” in a certain marketplace. It got 1236 visitors in one month and made me affiliate commissions of $122 converting at a rate of .8% which in that niche is pretty good since most of my readers had to have seen the original hyped up sales piece already.
 
It also produced 41 comments and I think some other sales from other related hubs. What will it do long term? I have no idea. I’m still learning about hubs. But when I start seeing emails flying promoting some product in this particular niche, I’ll probably write another review if I can. 

Now, to maximize the value of your “hubs” I strongly suggest you set up your own site. Here’s  a Free Web Host I recommend (it’s a hub page where I give you the scoop!)

You need at least a free web host so you can capture email addresses, set up sales pages, etc. You should be able to set up your first website for under $15 (free host plus domain name and $5 template if you choose).

If you can’t make money on Hub Pages, I’ve decided it’s not their fault.

I’m planning to focus on niches where I can sell digital products because there may be some issues with a major affiliate program in my state soon if you know what I mean.
