WIX.com – Creating Flash Websites

September 5, 2010 by Chuck | 1 Comment

I was checking out a website for a friend…. here it is… http://www.fcceonline.org/

This is a church’s site so I really didn’t expect much.  I was amazed to find a website created with “flash” programming… and even more interested to learn there’s a free service called WIX.com this group used to create an visually beautiful site.

Personally I wondered if the site was going to load – it seemed to slow. But after it magically appeared, I was pretty impressed with its quality.

As you know, I’m a WordPress guy… I understand that platform and use it daily.

If I were making a local organization’s site or local business site that wasn’t competing with millions of other pages, I’d use this service just for the visual advantage received (or at least consider it).

The deciding factor would be the add on functionality I required. WordPress has lots of plugins that can make it do amazing things. I don’t know how I would tweak these WIX sites.

Still, if you need a new website for  a local business, Wix.com might be the tool you need.

    Hey Chuck,

Thanks for your nice review. Wix has recently added an HTML component feature to its editor, meaning you can integrate any code available on the web into your Wix site (AdWords, Facebook Like buttons, Blog, etc). Your friend at http://www.fcceonline.org/ could integrate a donation widget into their site, even stream live sermons online if they wish.
Your blog is fantastic, I’ll be happy to share relevant posts with our community on Wix social channels.
    Thanks,
    Talya
