Wyckoff Patch, a community news website, seeks freelance sports writers interested in covering Ramapo and Indian Hills high schools’ sports this fall and beyond.
Freelancers would be required to cover home and away games throughout Bergen County, on a same-day deadline, producing stories and photographs. Additionally, freelancers would be asked to occasionally develop feature articles on players, coaches, etc.
Preferably, successful freelancers will be experienced covering sports professionally for a web or print outlet, although nearby college students with experience are welcome, as well. Sports writers must not only know the X’s and O’s, from football to volleyball, but must be comfortable conducting interviews with players and coaches.
Freelancers will be paid per submission, with rates starting at $50 a game.
A digital camera is a necessity. Video experience is a plus.
