How To Get Free Relevant Back Links

Jonathan Leger has a good post on how to get free relevant back links to your website(s):

Webmasters are constantly in search of new and creative ways to get backlinks to their web sites in order to improve their rankings in the major search engines.

One free, easy way to get backlinks is to monitor forums where people are discussing your areas of expertise. This is really easy to do with Google Alerts.

Simply create alerts for each of the major keywords in your industry, and set the alerts to monitor “discussions” only.

When google alerts you to such a discussion by email or RSS feed, you simply jump in and join the discussion (stay on topic please) but use a keyword rich backlink to your site.

Depending on how broad your market is, you could find dozens of discussions per week on the topics you serve. By posting on topic, you not only get to leave a link, you get to position yourself as an expert in that particular field.

So what are you waiting for?
