Small Business Battles Eminent Domain

June 3, 2010 by Chuck | 1 Comment

In some ways work at home businesses face this issue… people tell them all the time they are not “zoned” for their business… even if there is no significant impact on anyone else.

What if you’re a small business and you can make a profit in your current situation. Your only other alternative is to move to a higher priced location that will cut into your profits to the extent that, well, you can’t afford to do business.

Or if you just don’t want to move because of sentimental family value.

That’s exactly the situation of this business in New York. Under vague laws about “eminent domain” they’re trying to force this multigenerational family business out of their location and history… it’s all in the name of “progress” of course and fat profits for their real estate developer friends.
