Skype For iPhone – Talk over your 3G Network

June 3, 2010 by Chuck | 0 Comments

I just got the email today from Skype… you – and I – can now use Skype to call out over the 3G network of AT&T.
The service is free till the end of the year. Then a “small monthly charge” applies… how small or large I haven’t heard.

Just as that announcement came, AT&T announced that new data subscriptions will be required to sign up for “pay per use plans” on the data network.

If you currently have the $30 per month unlimited plan you can keep it (and yack away on Skype over the 3G network!). But new subscribers will have some variation of a pay per use plan.

It’s all moot to me… I have to travel 35 miles to be anywhere there’s a 3G network.

Tell me how you like it though! This would make working at home or in a coffee shop much easier to say the least!

So far though, I’ve been discouraged by the sound quality of my Skype app on the iPhone. Have you?
