How will working at home shape the Future Workforce?
Here’s one prediction…
Outsourcing will be common, with “offshoring” becoming immaterial; the best person for the job will do the job, and location will be irrelevant. People will redefine their own jobs, doing work at home and bringing home (child-care and chores) to work. More companies will engage in “crowd sourcing”—piecing out jobs, or even parts of jobs, to whoever can and wants to do them, so that the “labor” market will begin to operate more like match-ups on eBay than advertisements on Monster.com.
Given some of the dirt cheap pricing for some of these “crowd sourced” jobs I’ve seen, most people would be ahead working for minimum wage at a fast food joint! And enough money for health insurance? You’d better find multiple ways to make money if this prediction becomes the “reality”. I can’t see people being “satisfied” with this work either as the writer mentions.
There will always be the need for marketers of products and I hope that more people will be able to own their own self sustaining businesses instead of being at the mercy of the subsistence wages that seem to await many folks trying to “work online”.
