Web Worker Daily had a good article on 7 Items That Employers Want To See On A Telecommuting Resume

In a word:

  1. Prior experience.  They want to know you know how to work remotely.
  2. Self-direction. Can you really guide yourself on a project? Can you prove it?
  3. Great communication.
  4. Technical skills. Knowing the company specific technology plus other tools of your craft that are not provided are crucial.
  5. Professional objectives. Don’t let your objectives make you sound lazy or unmotivated. Just because you work at home doesn’t mean you don’t have professional goals like, or an insurance agent, to make the “Million Dollar Round Table”.
  6. Access to hardware.  Having your own hardware and software infrastructure may help you command more work.
  7. Your reasons for telecommuting. From the article: Employers probably won’t outright ask if you’re telecommuting because of family, health concerns or other reasons, but they’ll make assumptions. It’s probably best to be clear about your reasons for wanting to telecommute from the outset.
