According to Federal Computer Week: Telework improvements bill falls short in House vote
The bill aimed to increasingly allow Federal government workers to work at home (telework) and require agencies to name parties responsible for implementing the policy.
During this last winter when Washington DC was covered by snow for long periods of time, the bill’s sponsor Rep. John Sarbanes (D-Md.) said telework allowed the government to save $30 million dollars per day.
Support for the bill fell largely along party lines though the elements of the bill which made it objectionable were not mentioned in the article.
