Is It Dumb To Get Google’s New “Smart Phone”?

Fast Company has a preview of the new Google “Smart Phone” they’re rolling out in their latest bid to conquer the world of information.

I thought it’d be of interest to home business types because I use my smart phone (an iPhone) for lots of daily uses, including business. I suspect that the more affordable smart phones become, the more they’ll be used in all sorts of business.

Since we’re used to getting lots of free stuff from Google like free search engine, free email, free analytics, etc.  I guess we had figured that Google had somehow mastered free or at least cheap cell phones too.

Wrong, I suppose there are some laws of the physical universe Google still must adhere to, and evidently cell phone pricing is one of them. Even when subsidized by a T-mobile contract, it’s still $180. It’s $530 unlocked.

Though it’s a Google product, to most of us, it’s still a “no name” as far as cell phones go. I suspect most people will compare other mobile phones before they buy this one!  I’m keeping my iPhone for now!
