Have you wanted to use email marketing to promote a local business? Groupon may let you stick your toe in that water to test in for your metropolitan area. (See below for a tool that could let you begin harvesting local email addresses to do the same thing.)
You’ve just seen the customer website where they go to get “Deals” sent to their inbox daily. I’ve been a member for a few weeks and everything they send seems like a really good offer. So if you have a really “Good Offer” for your business, then this could be an ideal medium for driving some traffic and getting new business.
(If you don’t have a “Good Offer” as a retailer, then NO advertising really works unless you’re selling ice water in the Sahara.)
As a business person, you’ll want to check out “Groupon Works” to get the details. They currently serve 28 cities and are adding 17 more and have nearly 2 million subscribers seeking daily “deals”.
This service seems ideally suited to independent boutiques and the coupons I’ve seen (a completely unscientific evaluation!) seem to be geared to pampering products and services.
And once you’ve got them in the door, don’t forget the secret of the “One Penney Sales” for capturing their name and email for your own coupons to these people!
