Dominating Niches Online

If you want to “dominate” a niche online, it pays to understand the competition you’re up against.

How?

One way is to identify the number of backlinks to a particular site.

The strength of the competition can be judged, in part, from

1. Total number of backlinks

2. Backlinks designating the site by the key word they are trying to rank for.

That means that the anchor text should ideally be the keyword the site is trying to rank for.

The simplest tool to help you figure this out ins Yahoo’s Site Explorer.

Type in your competition’s domain name and you can see the links that supposedly make them the site to beat.

That’s what you’ll be up against in terms of back link building.

If it’s a zillion links for your chosen keyterm, then it may mean you have to find a less competitive keyword in the same market.

But that’s essentially how it’s done.

Try it in your internet marketing and you’ll get yourself a free education in  backlinking!

If you’re looking to build websites for selling affiliate products, I’ve found Affliate Genie (affiliate link) to be very easy to use and less cumbersome for product sales sites than WordPress, though I never thought I’d say that! If you’re building many sites, simply install Affliate Genie on each one instead of some other content management system.
