Many people I know these days are depressed. They feel the economy is out of control. They believe that things are getting worse and that, frankly, our government officials are not helping the matter.
So what are you doing?
One sure thing is that sitting around depressed won’t help anything.
Personally, I’ve decided to do what I can do.
I have no aspirations about building a huge business with thousands of employees. I don’t want that much paperwork and I don’t want an arbitrary government telling me how I have to spend corporate money to accomodate them.
But as unemployment and layoffs rise, I don’t want to become one of the many victims who have to depend on the government for a hand out.
People who do that find out how capricious government “aid” is.
So here’s what I’ve been doing and this explains my absence…
1) I’ve been taking stock… what’s coming down the road? I decided I needed to finally produce a reasonably priced information product that can a) help people make some extra cash while b) helping me without doing new “work” all the time. I’ve put that off for years. But now I have to “do it”. I’ve benefitted from many ingenious ideas that got my own entrepreneurial spirit stoked, I’m going to put out “fast cash” ideas for hard times and, as a bonus, include other ideas that I found stimulating.
2) But I’ve also been impressed on the need to press ahead in efforts that won’t involve money or selling to serve the needs of people in my community. That might be self-serving in a way still. When the manure hits the spreader it doesn’t matter who you know on Twitter if you need help fixing your car and you’re broke. You’ll need relationships with people who knew that you cared about them when the chips were down for them.
So what are you doing?
