Here’s an example of an iPhone app sold to support a nonprofit. You have to have itunes downloaded to see it. Sadly I can’t capture the picture from iTunes to show you either. (The picture is of another iphone app – “I Grenade” made by the same iphone apps designer.)
It’s one of those applications that lets you shake your iPhone and it produces a silly oneliner – this time series of usually silly one liners familiar to Christians.
And the idea is that if you buy it for 99 cents you’ll be getting something funny while supporting a non profit ministry with your purchase.
How many times could this idea be repeated?
Obviously many many times. And non-profit causes tend to have loyal constituencies. Many of them are hurting for donation dollars right now and an impulse buy that puts money in their pockets may be just what they’re looking for since their cost for promoting it would be an email to constituents!
And non-profits are used to paying for fundraising. There’s no question that with the right idea they will pay a percentage of all revenues collected to the creator of the appropriate iphone app.
Or just create one for the non profit you love!
