Part of an industry has been built on how to get “Top Ranking in Google”.

Now Google has weighed in for free.

Now you can read Google’s SEO Startup Guide

Actually they have several resource links here you can check out.

Our Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide covers around a dozen common areas that webmasters might consider optimizing. We felt that these areas (like improving title and description meta tags, URL structure, site navigation, content creation, anchor text, and more) would apply to webmasters of all experience levels and sites of all sizes and types. Throughout the guide, we also worked in many illustrations, pitfalls to avoid, and links to other resources that help expand our explanation of the topics. We plan on updating the guide at regular intervals with new optimization suggestions and to keep the technical advice current.

Happy Search Engine Optimization!

Google is very tough for people to figure out at first. I know i struggled for awhile and tossed out a lot of money until I figured out how to edit my keywords better and manage to set bids to stay on the first pages. I lossed a whole lot of money figuring it all out. After I did though I tossed together my list of keywords and and charge people $2.00 to get my list of over 200 keywords that are searched between 10,000-20,000 times a day. I guess in my mind is is easier to spend $2.00 and have good keywords than to spend $100-$400 on advertising for wasted no good clicks. I actually base my whole site around keeping my price cheap to help people. I know how much I struggled and struggled to get started and how much money I tossed down the tubes and made very little back. So after I finally got the online money making chemistry figured out now I try to be as honest as possible and truely help people to work through it. I created what I call a home business resource center. http://www.stemmenterprise.com

This guide is extremely useful. You know it’s credible when it’s coming directly from Google!

That guide is not a very good one. They talk very little about link development which is the centerpiece of their ALGO…. isen’t that WEIRD??

There have been recent changes to the Google SEO starter kit to reflect some of the changes made via the “Panda” update. Good read (or re-read).
