I meant to post this story about a work at home Accountant in Nashville TN before the article had been archived but got behind! According to their findings, there are 14,990 people in Davidson County (Nashville TN) that work at home full time… a huge increase. One person they profiled was a Nashville TN CPA.
In an article titled Number of Nashvillians Working At Home Soaring from Oct 18th we learned about a mompreneur who chose to take her CPA credentials and work at home because of her husbands illness.
I thought it was truly touching that this woman took her wedding vows so seriously that she left the corporate CPA world and opened her own home based practice for tax and payroll clients.
Perhaps she could have earned more playing with the “Big Boy” CPA firms, but generating $80,000 income as a work at home CPA is certainly very respectable! I daresay, most folks working at home would love to be generating that income on a predictable basis.
I don’t think this is all that unusual either. I know a number of Tax Preparers who generated significant income during the “Tax Season” rush and “played” the rest of the time. These people – perhaps only one of whom was a Certified Public Accountant – seemed to build up a clientele that provided “repeat” business from year to year.
The tough part was building that initial income level. CPA’s like this woman obviously have other accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll services that can generate year round revenue without some of the tax time drama CPA’s can see!
