Open Office Version 3 has many new options

September 22, 2008 by Chuck | 0 Comments

Open Office now has version 3. I always liked the idea of this open source alternative to Microsoft Office, but in practice it fell short of my expectations. This is actually a beta so only the stout of heart should try the newest version at this stage.

Here’s a solid review of the office suite.

Best things I’ve heard so far:

* Faster and cleaner interface
* Opens .docx files
* Can edit .pdf files (limited)
* Can export as hybrid .pdf file

Best thing – it’s still free if the price of MS Office has kept you from using a fully powered office suite.
