I love Twitter … it’s a social media lifesaver.
Social media is a great way to reach new prospects. On Facebook alone, there are 100 million potential prospects if you can find a way to reach them.
But not all social media outlets are created equal for marketing or business networking purposes.
Linkedin, for instance, is better for some business purposes. But some people can make money on things like MySpace if they can promote it legally… videos help.
That means your prospects might inhabit more than one network. How do you keep them all updated?
Thankfully that’s not too big a problem. Most allow you to update them using Twitter.
The problem with this is what you twitter. If you’re using one system to reach multiple audiences with different agendas, you need to keep that in mind as you send out your microblogging messages.
You may need to keep a balance in mind of business related messages and personal messages or decide on one strategy like “networking” to adopt in your social marketing.
What are you trying to accomplish? Immediate sales? Long term contacts? Build a subscriber base?
Use Twitter… it’s like fishing in multiple ponds with one fishing pole. But think through the bait you’re sending out into those ponds. It might only be appropriate for one pond.
