Posting Videos on WordPress – WordPress Tutorial

You can see my WordPress Tutorial articles here.

There IS one thing I hate about WordPress. Yes, I love it to bits, but there’s something I absolutely HATE about Wordpress.

What is it?

That WordPress routinely destroys the “embed” codes for YouTube and other videos. You’ll have a video there one second. Edit the post a second later and the next thing you know – your video is gone.

But fortunately there is a solution. A plugin for WordPress called Viper’s Video QuickTags.

Here’s what it looks like in action:

After installing the plug in, when you’re writing a post and need to embed a YouTube video, you click the YouTube icon and the above screen pops up. You don’t even have to worry with the embed code. You just put in the YouTube link and hit “insert” – perfect video embedding every time.

Now, this plugin handles a variety of videos, but I chose to mention YouTube to keep it simple. But you can embed videos from

* YouTube (including playlists)
* Google Video
* DailyMotion
* Vimeo
* Veoh
* Viddler
* Metacafe
* Blip.tv
* Flickr videos
* Spike.com/IFILM
* MySpaceTV

It handles many file formats too if you upload your own file.

Great too to post videos on your WordPress blog every time!
