Headline: Google will marginalize Ebay
Funny, they said that about Craigslist too. But people are buying stuff cheap on Craigslist to sell on Ebay!
Likewise, now it’s “Google” that’s going to reduce Ebay’s impact. Maybe.
But that makes it all the better (and more urgent) for Ebay to build a stable of productive affiliate and keep them happy if they’re smart enough to see the opportunity before them. Affiliates, you see, hate being marginalized as much or more than EBay. They are constantly battling against capricious shifts in search engine traffic patterns that can put them out of business.
They’d do a great job for Ebay, but right now the switch from Commission Junction to Ebay Partner Network has some of them feeling bruised and battered.
To miminize the impact of “Google marginalization” happy affiliates will be part of the mix.
In my opinion, it’s STILL a great time to Get Started On Ebay!

I think Ebay will marginalize themselves. I had over 10,000 auctions on ebay between 2000 and 2005. they have quadrupled the fees.
The common nickname of Greedbay is only so true. The sellers do all of the education. The traffic used to be great and I was able to net around 5%. Their fee exposion has made that impossible.
