The cost of health care is what keeps many people from being self employed. They’re afraid one huge bill will destroy them.

HSAs are the fastest growing type of health insurance, fastest growing type of bank account and fastest growing type of investment account. The HSA growth curve for the first years has far surpassed the first years of IRAs, for example. HSAs have lowered the cost of health insurance for millions, and put real push behind price transparency. HSAs will have a profound impact on the debate about containing entitlement health care spending on programs like Medicare.
What is particularly wrong is the fact that Hospitals may negotiate with insurance companies and Medicare for pennies for a service, but if you walk in uninsured with the intention of paying, you are charged a rate no insurance company ever sees to cover every “free patient” they see. If you’re homeless, no problem. You’ll never worry about paying a bill. If you are just entrepreneurial and don’t want insurance - you may be toast.
Unless a market driven plan is put in place, the economy will continue to sink under the weight of this health insanity and nationalizing health insurance will only cause more nightmare scenarios.
That’s just criminal on the part of the hospitals.
