High Gas Prices Are Helping Amazon.com!

High gas prices seem to be helping sales at Amazon.com! Here’s the article on that “Amazon Shrugs Off High Gas Prices, Weak Economy”

While millions of customers have kept Amazon in business, they’ve never managed to make their investors very happy.

Maybe this will change that trend. As gas prices skyrocket and consumers want to save on transportation, Amazon.com’s free shipping is really helping the retailer, not to mention the fact that the retailer’s large product list gives it lots of stuff to offer.

So far, Amazon’s expenses with their free shipping program have remained behind that they charge… so far.

My one problem is that many things have extra shipping charges attached so I don’t use the site for much more than books which I know will have free shipping. Amazon really needs to do a better job telling people things besides books that have free shipping. I’m a regular user, but that’s escaped me.

There are lessons in this for work at home entrepreneurs. If you want to start a home based business, one that has long term profitability anyway can be made to expand it’s market now by offering alternatives to travel. It’s counterintuitive to enter, for instance, a home pick up and delivery dry cleaning business, but if you can make it work when gas is high, if things get better, that’s just more profit for you and customers in the habit of using your services.
