Weak Dollar, Soaring Exports?

July 23, 2008 by Chuck | 0 Comments

According to my friends at the Agurban Institute who track this material 97% of exports comes from small and mid sized companies (remember that in this definition, “small” business is 500 employees or less!). Here’s really good news though. Most of these have 20 or fewer employees!

In fact, they say, exports are keeping US manufacturing up while domestic demand is soft. Maybe it’s the weak dollar – foreign currencies buy more upon exchange. Maybe it’s because they are growing themselves and need more of our stuff.

It would be interesting to know how many exporters are work at home shops selling for other American businesses as advocated in the work: Sell American !
