I’ll have to give John McCain this… his idea to offer a $300 million prize for the inventor who can come up with a battery vastly superior to those available today at prices and efficiency rates that make electric autos desirable IS a smart idea.
This is right out of the Wikinomics play book. If that’s a new concept to you, I’m talking about the book Wikinomics:How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything
I discussed it here. Basically, you put lots of people on the task and you remain open to where or how the “killer idea” comes from.
With a prize this large (if it actually happened) then you would see entrepreneurs scramble to innovate.
I’da never thought he’d thunk it!
