How Savvy Marketers Are Cashing In On The Tax Rebates

As the “Economic Stimulus” rebates are about to hit the street, suddenly all your customers and prospects are going to have extra money to spend. Will they spend it with you?

Good question.

Have you asked them to spend it with you?

Have you sweetened the deal so that they know WHAT extra benefits will occur if they plunk down that windfall money with you?

Kroger, as one example, is set to cash in on this extra money flowing through the economy and they may be the inspiration you need to get a windfall yourself.

For customers who spend their tax rebate at Kroger, the customers are getting EXTRA GROCERIES… you can read about that here.

A customer with a $300 check will receive a $330 Kroger Gift Card. $600 gets two $330 gift cards, and $1200 gets four $330 gift cards between May 2 and July 31. From the sound of the press release it may be “all or nothing” but it was rather vague.

You have to go to the customer service center to make the exchange and you also have to have a (free) customer loyalty card.

This strikes me as at least an interesting offer but not a “wow” offer.

What would a “wow” offer be to me at Kroger? 25% maybe? I’d  have to think I was getting at least as good a deal as at Wal Mart. But if it were just as good, I’d shop at Kroger because it’s less congested and tends to have greater variety on some things I buy. I also use their pharmacy even though they seem to botch up every prescription somehow. My wife says that our Kroger “would be a good place to put a pharmacy”. But I digress.

The point is - your customers will have a windfall of cash coming in.

It’s to “stimulate the economy”, why not have it stimulate YOUR economy?

How is that going to happen? What program will you put in place to accomplish that?

Will it WOW people? Or just make them raise their eyebrows for a second, think it over, and then yawn?
