You can get paid $10 for every website you’re chosen to review and be paid by Pay Pal.
Here’s how:
The people at Usertesting.com are letting folks sign up to review websites. The great thing about this site is that for $19 you can get a real person to review your site for its usability and customer friendliness. The reviewer provides feedback and comments so site owners can get some 3rd party input at a reasonable cost.
You can sign up to be a reviewer here.
Obviously $10 for 20 minutes work isn’t bad. It’s $30 per hour.
Consider it just another possible income stream. Here’s the company’s disclaimer:
This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Most people shouldn’t plan on earning a steady income from UserTesting.com.
Why? You might not receive many (or any) work opportunities. There are three reasons for this:
1. Your demographics. If your demographic profile doesn’t match the target audiences of the websites being tested, you won’t receive work opportunities.
2. An oversupply of user testers. Because this is such a high-paying opportunity, we have more user testers in our database than we have work opportunities.
3. Your ability to provide useful feedback. To be a helpful user tester, you should be good at:
* Thinking out loud. In other words, speaking your thoughts as you browse.
* Taking the point of view of the customer.
* Finding things that are confusing, difficult to accomplish, or other problems that might make you leave the site.If your feedback is considered useful, then you’re more likely to receive work opportunities.

Here is what concerned me. “You use software to record a video of what’s happening on your screen – mouse movements, clicks, and keystrokes”. Keystrokes?? I was going to sign up before I read that.

I can understand why they would record keystrokes on a website review. It’s to determine ease of navigation… but I see why your paranoia is flaring up.

Hi DJ,
I work at UserTesting.com. First, thanks for your feedback. “Keystrokes” was perhaps the wrong word for us to use. Here’s how it works: When you begin to review the website, we launch a screen recorder. The screen recorder is like Camtasia…it makes a movie of whatever you do on the screen. That includes mouse movements. It also means that if you type something into your browser (like if you search for something), the movie will show what you have typed into the search box.
UserTesting.com doesn’t track keystrokes. But the person who views your movie will be able to see what you typed into their site.
I hope that makes sense.
