Concord CA Home Use Ordinance Proposed

The weenies in local government are worried about “blight” in Concord, CA.

So, to them, the old legal principle of a “Man’s home is his castle” means nothing.

Property ownership means nothing.

Your right to earn a living means nothing.

Your right to associate with whomever you choose in your home means nothing.

And basically YOU mean nothing.

That’s why they’re propsing a draconian new ordinance to control you terrible home business people!

From the Contra Costa Times

In-home businesses, whether dedicated to selling computers out of a garage or Pampered Chef products out of a back bedroom, are facing strict limitations from city leaders who are worried about blight. A proposed ordinance would prohibit customers from visiting a home business and would allow only one parked work vehicle in front of the home. Also, employees who don’t live in a house wouldn’t be able to work there.

Planning Commissioner Bill Brumley, who supports the ordinance, says he has watched neighborhoods go downhill over the years and wants it to stop. He believes that removing extra cars along with yard trash and other things he says cause blight can go a long way toward a more beautiful Concord.
