From the Lincoln News Messenger
Maher Elslakhi had been successful running a wholesale car company out of his Lincoln home.
So when his wife, Elizabeth, decided to start her own cleaning business for some extra income, the couple was surprised to find out it wouldn’t be allowed.
Under current city code, Lincoln only permits one home-based enterprise – including nonprofits – per residence.
“My wife has the right to have her own business,” said Elslakhi, who submitted a request to the city to change the rule.City officials agreed its code was outdated.
