Alpine Access’ Model For Growth

Alpine Access is growing rapidly. How does the Colorado based company do it? Web Worker Daily has a fantastic article on the company today.

Because Alpine’s workers can work remotely, Alpine gets the “pick of the litter” as far as worker quality goes. These aren’t “I can’t do anything else so I’ll work at home jobs”.

I’ve heard these jobs criticized because they “only” pay $8 to $13 per hour. But they do provide health insurance and other benefits and they don’t require commuting costs, wardrobe costs, and other expenses of working outside the home.

In many rural areas - assuming the worker has the skills, the high speed connection and the computer, $13 hourly plus insurance is a “killer” position believe it or not.

And some people want to work at home but don’t want a BUSINESS per se. They want to sit down, work, get paid, and be at home.

Alpine Access’ average worker age is 41 and are seeking a long term position. In addition they’re college educated for the most part. So Alpine is attempting to build a smart workforce with low turnover.

Alpine could have tried to accomplish this by locating call centers overseas, but it’s nice to see a company with a “homeshoring” philosophy doing well.

It’s an attractive company for many people… that’s why they get 200,000 applications per year and hire people to meet specific customer needs.
