Groceries Rise 16%! Ouch. Here’s Some Things To Do!

I was watching the news tonight and CBS noted that the price of staples at the grocery store had risen 16% in the last year (or perhaps shorter, I don’t recall) has been a whopping 16%.

Now when the government comes out with their “Consumer Price Index” they’ll mix in the decreasing costs of buggy whips, the air we breath, and rotary dial telephones and other low ball figures to keep the populace thinking that they’re really not going broke, they’re just crazy for not realizing “how good things are”.

Here are some things you can do to help yourself.

1. Ramp up your home business for two reasons. First the extra income. But secondly because having a home business also is the middle class family’s best tax break. Tim Knox, noted internet entrepreneur, has produced a top notch Tax Guide to get you started. But PLEASE work with a local tax advisor TOO!

2. Check out Angel Food Ministries to save money on your groceries. My wife and her mom buy one basic kit monthly, split the cost and buy any other specials they want… there’s GREAT saving on meats and other products. I know one family with 5 kids who buy 4 basic units monthly!

But the most important step is to realize that you’re not insane for believing your budget is being blasted all to heck by the economy … and to DO SOMETHING to protect yourself. The Presidential candidates - no matter what they say - are likely to help you more than you can help yourself.
