Miami Herald To Outsource Copy Editing

I marvel at these big newspapers and other media outlets.

They tend to be extremely left of center in their news reporting and so, by definition, “claim” to care about the the “little guy”.

So when they need to save money - what do they do?

Many publishers source out copy editing to home based editors who are independent contractors or telecommuters.  That has the potential to save a significant amount of money.

The problem with outsourcing to New Dehli is that it likely will have to be edited again in the US just as much foreign medical transcription is because of the need to correctly spell local names, places, and local “slang”.

Evidently any concern at the Miami Herald for Americans losing their jobs is just more empty rhetoric from the main stream press.  They’re not alone though. It’s a new “phenomenon” in the press as the article shows.

Do you want your local news covered by reporters who have never set foot in your city, state, or region? Do you expect them to know what’s going on?
