Financial Times: Leisure time to emerge as powerful trend, economist suggests

My first reaction to the headline was “Duh”!

Then I remembered one definition of “economist”…. someone hired to make predictions yet who is never held accountable for their accuracy.

So I kept reading.

Evidently, one of these “economists” says, having leisure time will become more important than a huge paycheck.

I guess they must be talking about people who want to scale down from making $500,000 per year and decide they can “scrape by” on $300,000 plus extra time off.

So in other words “Not unless the pay check that remains is big enough to pay all your bills and give you enough money to make good use of that leisure time!’

Anyway, this made for some interesting predictions like a boom in the restaurant industry which has been otherwise flat for a good while.

I liked the one about people being allowed to bring their pets to work.
