Shop Dropping Is The Way Some Marketers Hope To Build Business

December 26, 2007 by Chuck | 0 Comments

Now’s the time of year that some marketers are busy “planting” their marketing messages. Sometimes for business purposes… other times for activist reasons.

For example…

  • Personal trainers who place their business cards in health and fitness books.
  • Self-published authors who actually plant their books on the “new release” shelf in hopes of sales that lead to big orders.
  • Music producers putting stacks of CD’s marked “Free” on the racks at Starbucks

In fact, if you’ve done this yourself and gotten good results, you can promote yourself some here… they’re looking for shopdropping submissions.
Obviously big chains are concerned about the practice. They’re afraid substandard products will be left and so if they catch you, your chance of a re-order could be nil.

You can read more about it here.
