I must have had my head buried in the sand. I just ran across the article announcing the Congress has banned the incandescent light bulb… by 2014 of course when the people in Congress then can shrug their shoulders and say “We didn’t do this! Don’t blame us!”
The argument is that the small fluorescent bulbs take less energy and last 5 years longer. I’ve been using these fluorescent bulbs in a variety of settings and mine don’t seem to last one darn bit longer than any incandescent bulb but cost MUCH more.
And unlike incandescent bulbs, these new bulbs cause a toxic mercury waste problem in land fills.
I chalk it up to more majoring on the minors and another symbolic act of pretending to have a clue about something when it’s increasingly clear they have NO clue about anything.
