B Corporations - Good Companies? Good Marketing Or More Hype?

A new trend in the formation of corporate entities is the “B Corporation”. You’ve heard of  “C” corporation because that’s a long standing corporate entity type according to the tax laws.

B Corporations do have a unique corporate structure that lets them divert profits to community “stakeholder” non-profit organizations as opposed to “stockholders”.

The question remains… are these truly good companies, good marketing, or more hype?

Or is it just a different take on “captialism is evil but this lets us turn a buck and not loathe ourselves in the mirror?”

If it catches on, it could prove way for business to reform the marketplace without government intervention so that potential is worth looking into.

Since these are corporate arrangements, relatively few home businesses will be involved.

But if the idea catches on, should a home business association try to scale the concept to home business?

Should “B Corporations” voluntarily promote telecommuting to be a “B”?
