A Taiwanese firm is unveiling a $299 Laptop!
It uses flash memory instead of a resident hard drive and operates only open source software to keep the price down.
I told you before about the $100 laptop project for school children and predicted we’d see one on the shelves of Wal Mart too. The way things are going with that project, I wonder if Wal Mart will put out a cheaper lap top faster than what started as a charitable project. The charity project hasn’t broken the $199 barrier and the for profit model is now down to $299!
