Becky McCray asked for help so I decided to pass this along. This blogger has the added challenge of cerebral palsy and wants to use the winnings to make her blogging go a bit easier.
Hi everyone,
I would like to thank you all for being such enthusiastic supporters over the past year, particularly with the Blog for a Year contest. With your support, I have reached third place out of 247 bloggers, which is a success by itself! Thank you.
I’m wondering if you would be willing to try one last push to try to reach first place. Here’s the scoop:
- 7400 votes are needed to reach first place at the moment, though I see the race between the top two heating up, so it may take more than 7400 to win this. See the real-time results at http://blogforayear.com/profiles
- approximately 30 days until the end of the year, allowing for a few days people won’t be at their computers
- that means with a minimum of 250 votes/day a win is still very possible! Here’s the idea: if each of you could convince ten people to make http://blogforayear.com/profiles/glenda-watson-hyatt their Internet browser’s homepage for the next month [or add another tab in Firefox] so they can easily cast a daily vote until December 31, 2007, then this is pretty much a done deal! The thing is we don’t want the top two contestants getting wind of this clever caper [thanks Clay for the idea!], so it may be better to do this by email rather than by blog posts. What do you think? Are you interested in giving this one more shot?
The Blogger Fund is currently at $2,260, nowhere near the goal of $160,000, half of which goes to the winning blogger. BUT the existing fund would nearly pay for the EZ Keys with Voice software, which would enable me to interact more effectively when in face-to-face groups, as I blogged about yesterday here .
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much!
Cheers,
Glenda
