Blogging is like Jogging says blogger Mark Roberts here and here. Except for the sweat and shin splints I guess.
But in other ways like
1. Having a strong sense of self - sort of like continuing to job no matter how foolish you think you look to other passersby.
2. Have lots of ideas because people come to blogs to see what’s new not just to keep gawking at your unchanging static site.
3. Have the ability to write quickly and easily - like some people talk. You just have to have a knack for cranking out words.
4. Have a purpose that transcends popularity. In other words if you get 5000 visitors one day and 5 the next, you’re going to keep blogging because getting ideas “out there” is your mission instead of popularity.
Roberts notes that pundits are claiming that blogging is dead because - surprise, surprise - some people who actually start blogging QUIT! Wow… imagine that. Someone quit doing something.
I think Roberts is on target. People who want to blog to convey ideas (not just create spam blogs to gather Google change) must be like endurance runners or else they’ll just be a flash in the pan.
