Can a Wiki build your business? Maybe, maybe not. But I’m fascinated by the possibilities for your business and mine. Wiki enabled sites are readily available even for non technical webmasters.
The book Wikinomics:How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything discusses how one old line business (a gold mine!) used the wiki concept to make rapid advances in profitability quickly using the wiki concept.
What worked for them was
1) offering a great prize
2) providing raw information and
3) soliciting outside participation
The question is how to apply it to your business venture?
How can you attract people and ideas to help improve your business.
Ken Evoy suggests using the Wiki concept to build unique and growing content.
If you have a problem needing a solution and you want to identify that more easily, you may offer a prize if enough cash is at stake.
You may attract people to your site for fun like BooTube and get the traffic but perhaps also you could identify joint venture partners for future work.
If you are a solution provider, you could create a Wiki to get together customers or potential customers. This is called a “camp”. If you can get people discussing the problem and noting relevant data and help a solution emerge, then you may position yourself as a helper and become the resource of choice for those customers.
How could you use a Wiki for your business?
