Lessons from a Student Career Fair Part 1

November 2, 2007 by Chuck | 0 Comments

I was busy all day at a Student Career Fair. From a marketing perspective it’s a bit like a Trade Show.

I wasn’t there directly selling anything, and many were just there to be interviewed by the students.

But I noticed the similarity between that Career Fair and a Trade Show.

Here’s how:

1. Booths all around the outside ring and booths on the inside… kind of like a race track.
2. Lots of students buzzing around the center like race cars but not too many making “pit stops” at the booths at the edge … unless certain things happened.
3. Lots of people who volunteered to be there just sitting around bored and complaining “nobody comes to talk to me”…
4. Not too many with a STRATEGY to get any results.

Yes … lots like Trade Shows or the Home Business Shows.

Next post… what to do about that.
