In our culture we have jokes about selling. Someone who can really sell is said to be able to “sell ice to Eskimos” - in other words, to sell people things they don’t really need.

But intuitively we know that the easiest sale is made to someone who’s convinced they want and even desperately NEED what you’re selling.

So if you’re  going to produce an information product, it should be something that starts out serving the needs of an identifiable pool of hungry shoppers.

Identifying desperate buyers is the key and the tool to identify them is to identify the people in pain and how to solve that pain as Alexis Dawes points out.

That happens by identifying needs, wants, embarrassments online through keyword searches and checking out the top “answer” sites and crafting products that address those needs simply, effectively and accurately.

Some of the most effective reports may only be a dozen pages but sell for $24.95. They may not even have all the freebies, gizmos, and “bonuses” you’ve come to expect with online promotions and never get around to reading.
