One of the problems people have when trying to get out of the “health insurance system” is the misbelief that they can save money by “paying cash”. In most business that’s true - paying up front in cash instead of having to argue with an insurance company should logically warrant a discount.
But that’s not the way it is in the medical world.
A doctor who is a provider for an insurance plan agrees to a discounted fee schedule and makes up the loss from the “cash” customers. In fact, if it were found out that the doctor did provide a cash discount to someone not covered by a contract who just walked in off the street, the doctor could be in big trouble.
That’s why you can’t (or at least aren’t LIKELY ) to get a cash discount from a doctor you went to when you had insurance.
That’s why people trying to get out of the system look to programs like Ameriplan to help access this shadowy world.
Ameriplan gives people without insurance access to these discount arrangements so that if you are paying cash, you have the bargaining power of big companies and it doesn’t get the doctor in trouble.
Ameriplan offers discount medical, dental, vision, prescription, and chiropractic benefits and is also a work from home business.
