Possible Power Grid Terrorism Update

The Associated Press is all agoggle about a formerly “Official Use Only” Homeland Security video showing how hackers could trash the Power Grid and send America into a national crisis.

One viewer reportedly said:“It’s so graphic,” Yoran said. “Talking about bits and bytes doesn’t have the same impact as seeing something catch fire.”

Of course the real unasked question is what this boondoggle video cost the taxpayers. Don’t these idiots watch Bruce Willis films? The last one “Live Free or Die Hard” was all about this topic and they could have rented it for $4 at Blockbuster.

Frankly, we’ve known of this potential problem for over a decade and we’re just now making a stupid video to show some stupid people who are supposed to be protecting us  what problems could emerge?

The strategic question for businesses aside from how to survive as a nation if such a tragedy happens is about the plans we make now assuming the idiots who are busy making videos actually do manage to protect the country – do we link broadband expansion to broadband over powerlines? Or is there another technology that needs to be exploited instead so that even if there are power disruptions, there is still the possisbility of communications over the net?
